Don't let your resolutions for weight loss evade your pets. Obesity is a common health problem in companion animals. Did you know that even being 10% overweight has been associated with many serious diseases that can affect quality and length of life? Obesity in pets can be associated with diabetes, pancreatitis, hyperlipidemia (high fat levels in the blood), joint disease, skin disease and even a shorter lifespan!
Not sure how much your pet should be eating or even what their ideal weight is? Don't fret and ask one of our team members!
Weight loss requires a commitment from all caregivers. The number of calories being fed must be reduced. This can be done by reducing the amount of their usual food, or converting to a special low calorie diet. It is important to eliminate all fatty treats and table scraps. Treats are often an important part of your relationship with your dog, so we do not advocate eliminating them, but rather accounting for them in the diet and changing the choice of treats
Here at Fremont Veterinary Hospital, we put up a Remembrance tree every December. Please bring in a picture of your pet that you lost this year and we will make an ornament to put on our tree. Ornaments can be picked up on January 1st.

They are so accommodating for my crazy doggie who goes nuts when she sees other dogs she does not know. They are kind and loving!"
